In brief: this site uses no cookies or advertising. Data leaves your browser when you use the chat, self-test, contact form or newsletter. We only save chat traces if you agree to the optional quality review.

Who is responsible?

Visiting the site (hosting)

This site is delivered by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA; Workers and R2). Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To prevent abuse, the site briefly counts requests per IP address in memory. These counts are not stored permanently.

Ask AI (chat)

When you ask a question, we send it, the content of the post you are reading and the conversation history to OpenRouter, Inc. (USA). OpenRouter forwards the request to the language model, currently provided by Anthropic, which generates the answer. No account is required. If you enable the optional quality review in the chat, we store your questions, the submitted conversation history, answers, model and usage data, tool calls with arguments and results, requested browser actions and any reasoning summaries supplied by the provider in Cloudflare D1. Hidden internal chains of thought are neither requested nor stored. We do not store an IP address or user identifier with these traces.

Please do not enter sensitive or confidential information in the chat. The optional quality review helps identify errors and test improvements. Your consent is the legal basis for this additional storage (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can stop storage for future requests at any time by clearing the checkbox. Stored traces expire after 30 days and are deleted daily. For earlier deletion, contact me with the approximate time and content of your question. The chat also works without consent; no quality log is created.

For questions about code, AI may execute code in an isolated environment provided by E2B (E2B, Inc., USA), which is deleted after the request. Only model-generated code is sent there, not your browser data.

Self-test

Your free-text answer is sent via OpenRouter to the language model for assessment, as in the chat. The answer is not stored; you see the result directly on the site.

Contact form

I store your name (optional), email address and message in my database (Cloudflare D1, Western Europe) and forward them to myself by email so I can respond. Email delivery uses Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) with servers in the EU. I delete the message once the request is resolved and no retention obligation applies. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Newsletter

For the newsletter, I store your email address, your chosen Language and the times of subscription, confirmation and unsubscription. Subscription uses double opt-in: you first receive an email with a confirmation link valid for seven days. You are only subscribed after clicking it. If you do not click it, you receive no further emails.

The data is stored in my database (Cloudflare D1, Western Europe); emails are sent via Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) with servers in the EU. Your consent is the legal basis (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time: every email contains an unsubscribe link, also available as one-click unsubscription in email clients. After unsubscription, I retain the address with an unsubscribed status to ensure no further emails are sent. If you want this removed as well, contact me and I will delete it completely.

Data in your browser

The site stores some settings locally in your browser. They do not leave your device:

  • Colour scheme, visual style and sidebar widths
  • Selected language and whether you have seen the tour
  • Your notes and highlights on posts

This is necessary for the features you choose to use (Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG). You can delete these settings at any time in your browser. We do not use cookies or advertising services. The optional chat quality review is described above.

Transfers to third countries

The service providers named above are based in the USA. Transfers rely on the applicable safeguards under Articles 44 onwards GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You may withdraw consent at any time. To do so, contact me at jt.hoetter@gmail.com. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
