Anthropic Speeds Up Long Chats and DeepSeek Builds Plugins in Chat

AI agent builders often battle high latency and rigid interfaces. New updates reduce round-trip delays and enable live interface customization.

Anthropic Launches Message Threads on Claude API

On November 2, 2026, Anthropic launched server-side message threads in public beta for the Claude Messages API. Until now, long-running coding agents had to re-upload hundreds of thousands of conversation tokens on every interaction. That created repeated network upload and validation overhead before generation could even start. Message threads store the conversation history, system prompt, and tool definitions in encrypted server RAM without writing them to disk. Follow-up API calls transmit only the newest user input or tool results. Token billing remains identical, but request payloads become much smaller. Anthropic reports that this approach reduces median time-to-first-token by roughly 35 percent on large requests spanning between 500,000 and one million tokens.

What it means: Coding and computer-use agents become noticeably more responsive during deep debugging loops. However, threads expire after short periods of inactivity and cannot be used for zero-data-retention compliance setups.

Example: A software agent inspecting a large codebase sends only its latest shell output instead of re-transmitting megabytes of earlier logs.

DeepSeek Harness Adds Creator Mode for Live UI Plugins

DeepSeek introduced Creator Mode to its open-source DeepSeek Harness agent environment on November 2, 2026. The update allows users to build and hot-install custom user interface panels and tool plugins using plain-language prompts. The agent writes the plugin code, validates it, and injects it into the live session without requiring an application restart.

What it means: Users can tailor agent workspaces on the fly without stopping background tasks or writing manual boilerplate.

Example: An engineer asks the chat agent to create an active token counter panel, which appears immediately on the desktop.
